About Me
I’m Myles Lack-Zell, a senior at Olin College of Engineering concentrating in adaptive product design and education.
Passions
I’m passionate about the intersection of engineering/technology and art/design, always looking for ways to integrate my interests into my work. I have always been a design-focused person, so I’m constantly noticing details and thinking of ways to improve the products I come across.
During my experiences providing tech support, advice, and administration/maintenance for family and friends, as well as through courses in disability and aging, I have watched people struggle to use technology in a way that works for them. In many cases, these difficulties are caused by shortcoming of the products themselves, not the individuals. Applying aspects of personalized design to find ways technology can adapt to fit individual needs, rather than training people to use technology, has increasingly become a focus for my work and how I approach design.
Previous Education
In 2020, I graduated from The Cambridge School of Weston, a progressive high school focusing on student-centered learning and social justice. During my time there, I participated in over 60 distinct courses of in-depth study.
Before high school I spent a year and a half at NuVu Studio, an innovation school where students work on hands-on group projects to solve real world problems. I learned digital fabrication and prototyping techniques through the engineering design process.
