About Me
I’m Myles Lack-Zell, a recent graduate of Olin College of Engineering with a degree in engineering with a concentration in adaptive product design and a minor in education.
Passions
I’m passionate about the intersection of engineering/technology and art/design, always looking for ways to integrate my interests into my work. I have always been a design-focused person, so I’m constantly noticing details and thinking of ways to improve the products I come across.
As I have interacted with users while providing tech support/advice and working on design projects for courses in disability and aging, I have watched people struggle to use technology in ways that work for them. In many cases, these difficulties are caused by shortcoming of the products themselves, not the individuals. Applying aspects of personalized design to find ways that products, services, and spaces can adapt to fit individual needs, rather than training the users, has increasingly become a focus for my work and how I approach design.
Education
In December 2024, I graduated from Olin College of Engineering, a small, project-based, engineering school incorporating design thinking and ethics into the entire curriculum. While pursuing my degree, I had the opportunity to work directly with users on real design projects, collaborate with and manage teams of students and outside partners, and participate in experimental educational experiences.
In 2020, I graduated from The Cambridge School of Weston, a progressive high school focusing on student-centered learning and social justice. During my time there, I participated in over 60 distinct courses of in-depth study.
Before high school I spent a year and a half at NuVu Studio, an innovation school where students work on hands-on group projects to solve real world problems. I learned digital fabrication and prototyping techniques through the engineering design process.
