In my Infrastructure Studies course at Olin, students were tasked with creating a zine, or self-published magazine, to communicate information about a form of infrastructure of their choosing, focusing on the social component of the system.
I created a guidebook that provides the information consumers in Massachusetts need to make an informed decision about their landline phone service since Verizon, the state’s only subsidized landline service partner, is deactivating its copper phone lines in favor of internet-based fiber systems. The guidebook is designed as a small booklet that can easily be sent to affected households.
