I was one of four students at NuVu Studio selected to work on the designs for Grove, an interactive large scale sculptural installation for Burning Man 2016. Conceived by Shilo Shiv Suleman, the installation was a series of metal trees with lighting up the trunks to large leaf-like structures above. Light flowed up and down the trees, matching the user’s breathing pattern. The trees acted as shade during the day and as a social area at night.
I designed and prototyped actuated flowers to surround a custom breath sensor and protect it from sandstorms in the Black Rock Desert. The flower was made of translucent plastic petals to allow it to glow at night, and opened up to reveal the breath sensor.
