The Lung Dress is a conceptual exoskeleton fashion piece I created for Boston Fashion Week 2015. An acrylic ‘lung’ on the front of the dress ‘breathes’. The structure of the dress is made up of laser-cut plywood sections, spray-painted silver and connected by nuts and bolts so the sections can conform to the body. Skeletal ‘tubes’ of elastic running between two white acrylic ‘lungs’ centered on the dress. The plywood pieces join at the attachment points of the lungs. The ‘breathing’ motion is powered by a servo connected to an Arduino.
